Dr. Kris Ma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining CUHK in 2026, she was an Assistant Professor and clinical psychologist in the Department of Family Medicine at University of Washington in Seattle. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Community Track, from DePaul University in Chicago, USA, and completed her psychology internship and postdoctoral research training in the Department of Family Medicine at University of Washington School of Medicine. She conducts health services and health care systems research that aims to improve access, quality, and delivery of mental and behavioral health services in primary care and community settings.

• Integrated behavioral health in primary care:

  Study the effectiveness and implementation of integrated care models to improve whole-person care for individuals with co-occurring physical and mental health conditions.

• Brief psychotherapy and behavioral health interventions:

  Develop and adapt interventions to support chronic disease management and address common mental and behavioral health challenges.

• Health equity and clinical-community linkages:

  Design partnerships and systems of care that improve access and outcomes for individuals with complex medical and psychosocial needs.

• Brain health, dementia care, and caregiver support:

  Develop interventions and coordinated care systems focused on brain health promotion, early dementia detection and management, and support for caregivers.
