Staff-Student Consultation

Each student after being admitted to the major programme will be assigned an advisor. The list of advisor-student pairings will be posted outside the main office (Rm 328) of the department by the second week of classes.

First year students should make an appointment to see their advisor as soon as possible. After that, they should at least meet with their advisor once each term during their first year. Students of the other years are advised to do so if they wish. The advisors are the persons to whom students can talk to if they have any problems. They will try their best to help the students.

The role of the advisor is as follows:

(a) advise on planning programme of studies;
(b) advise on career planning and further studies;
(c) assist with academic problems, difficulties in studying and personal concerns; and
(d) as a resource person, such as a referee.
