Study Scheme - Guidelines & Procedures 2008-09

 

Recommended Course Pattern  

Students should take the following courses in their first year:

PSY 0290 Guided Study in Current Issues
PSY 1000 General Psychology
PSY 1010 Introduction to Statistics
PSY 1020 Experimental Design

Students should take PSY0390 Undergraduate Indepentent Study and are strongly encouraged to register for more required courses in their second year.

Students who do not plan to take Senior Thesis Research I & II, may take Guided Study in Current Issues in their first or second year and Undergraduate Independent Study in their second or third year.

Students who are interested in pursuing an M.Phil. degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology programme, are strongly encouraged to take PSY2070 Qualitative Research Methods & PSY4830 Human Factors Psychology which are two of the required courses of that programme.

Students who are interested in pursuing a degree in Clinical Psychology are recommended to take PSY3700 Abnormal Psychology.

Students who wish to elect a concentration area are advised to select courses fitting the concentration area (see Concentration Areas in Cognitive Science, Education and Human Development, Social and Industria-/Organizational Psychology, & Psychology and Health).

Students who wish to take practicum course are advised to register for this course in their 2nd year. Please see department guidelines on Course Registration Procedures - Practicum.
