The optotrak 3020 is for coding the trajectory of a number of moving bodies. We used this machine to study the problem of bimanual motor coordination and visual haptic spatial calibration. In operation, emitters linked to a pulse generator are first attached to the moving bodies such as different fingers . These emitters send out infra-red pulses that could be detected by three cameras located about 7 ft in front of the moving bodies. The x, y, z coordinates of the moving bodies specified by the emitters could then be obtained. The data will then be recorded in a computer. With a sample rate of 200 Hz in pulse generation, the optotrak could then track the trajectories of the moving bodies.
