The Centre for Neurocognitive Function Enhancement (CNFE) was jointly
established by the Department of Psychology and the Faculty of Medicine
in 2003. Centre members come from different departments at
the University including Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology,
Psychiatry, Psychology, and Radiology. The CNFE with the mission
to enhance human cognitive functioning, through:
- Increasing our understanding of human neurocognitive functions
through empirical research.
- Providing clinical neuropsychological services for individuals
with brain abnormalities, and their family.
In the research arm, the CNFE conducts research on a wide spectrum
of human neurocognitive functions that includes memory, executive
functions, language, brain plasticity, among others. Studies are
conducted with both normal individuals and patient groups, using
techniques including MRI, fMRI, EEG, as well as paper and pencil
tests. In the services arm, the CNFE offers clinical neuropsychological
services to the public that includes assessment, intervention, and
rehabilitation counseling. The centre also develops and publishes
professional tests, as well as books geared for the lay public.
