Abstract
The
CPAI-2 is an indigenously derived personality measure that covers a
broad spectrum of traits relevant to the Chinese culture. It is standardized
on a representative normative sample of Chinese adults. Earlier research
on the normal personality scales showed that the CPAI-2 covered important
interpersonal domains that have not been included in Western personality
measures. The clinical utility of the CPAI-2 was investigated in a large-scale
study of Chinese psychiatric patients from Mainland China and Hong Kong.
In this seminar, I present the personality profiles of patients based
on their Axis I and Axis II diagnoses. I discuss the culture-specific
features highlighted in these profiles and their implications. Results
from related studies involving the CPAI-2 clinical scales will also
be reported.
