This
Symposium was held as one of the celebration events on 21 May 2002. Our
Department was honored to have Professor Liu In-Mao, Professor Emeritus
of the Department of Psychology of the National Chung-Cheng University
and Founding Chairperson of our Department, Professor Wang Lei, Chairperson
of the Department of Psychology of Peking University, Professor Wu Yin-Chang,
Chairperson of the Psychology Department of the National Taiwan University,
and Professor Yang Yu-Fang, Head of Institute of Psychology of the Chinese
Academy of Science, as guest speakers in the Symposium. Prof. Fanny M.
Cheung, Chairperson of our Department, moderated the discussion.
Speakers
introduced the history and progress of the development of Psychology in
their regions and discussed the directions of future development of Psychology
in Chinese societies. Colleagues from other departments and institutes
including Professor Chang Lei, Associate Professor of the Department of
Educational Psychology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor
Chiu Chi-Yue, Chairperson of the Department of Psychology of The University
of Hong Kong, Professor Connie S.H. Ho, Programme Director of Educational
Psychology of the Department of Psychology of The University of Hong Kong,
Professor Hong Ying-Yi, Associate Professor of the Division of Social
Science of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Professor
Ng Sik-Hung, Head of the Department of Applied Social Studies, The City
University of Hong Kong also attended the symposium and participated in
the discussion session.
